Cagrilintide is a fatty acid-acylated long-acting analog of amylin, designed for sustained amylin receptor activation. Amylin is co-secreted with insulin from pancreatic beta cells and plays complementary roles in postprandial glucose regulation, gastric emptying, and appetite suppression via central amylin receptor pathways. Research has investigated cagrilintide alone and in combination with GLP-1 analogs for synergistic metabolic effects.
