IGF-DES (des(1-3)IGF-1) is a naturally occurring truncated form of insulin-like growth factor 1, lacking the first three N-terminal amino acids of native IGF-1. This truncation dramatically reduces its binding affinity for IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) — by approximately 10-fold compared to native IGF-1 — allowing a greater proportion of administered peptide to reach and activate IGF-1 receptors in tissue. IGF-DES also demonstrates a significantly higher potency at the IGF-1 receptor in vitro compared to full-length IGF-1, making it a valuable research tool for studying IGF-1R-mediated signaling with enhanced receptor engagement. This 2mg vial provides research-grade IGF-DES at ≥99% purity, HPLC and MS/MS verified per batch.
IGF-DES was first identified as a naturally occurring brain-derived form of IGF-1 in pigs, and subsequently found in human brain tissue. Research interest centers on its enhanced receptor potency and its reduced IGFBP binding — properties that make it mechanistically distinct from full-length IGF-1 and IGF-1 LR3 for research design purposes. Published studies have explored IGF-DES in muscle satellite cell activation, neuronal survival models, and wound healing contexts. Its naturally occurring status in brain tissue has also generated interest in neurotrophic and neuroprotective research applications.
All IGF-DES vials are third-party tested by independent ISO-certified laboratories. HPLC and MS/MS validation performed per batch. COA available on request.
